Futuro em Rede is a project created by Carol Bampa, in the scope of Guimarães being the European Green Capital 2026.

It combines the topics of sustainability, community and art to create and hopefully implement a greener city – the created manifesto will be handed over to the city hall in September.

The project consists of several workshops as well as 2 interactive installations and a collective manifesto which is a summary of all created works throughout the project.

Sustainability, art & community participation for a sustainable future

In this specific workshop, we’ve worked with 35 students of the European RUN program, introduced them to the concept of Design fiction and let them imagine possible future scenarios for the city.

After the introduction of the concept of Design Fiction as well as the up- and downsides of using AI (especially in terms of sustainability), a walk around the Bairro C in Guimarães provided inspiration. The students where invited to find buildings and locations that offer potential for sustainable future scenarios.

Creating detailed plans on paper and a understanding the turning point for those futures to take place, allowed them to use AI efficiently by bringing their vision to life via one prompt.

All created visions will be included in the manifesto and are also visible in the future stations, the interactive installations installed in the city.
