Art Meets Tech 2025: Producing an Online Workshop Series with 18 Goethe-Institutes

After a first year of Web3Expressão at Goethe-Institut Lisboa, the program grew in 2025 into something bigger: Art Meets Tech, a bi-monthly workshop series for artists and cultural professionals, delivered mostly online and supported by 18 Goethe-Institutes across Europe. After a short break, I worked on it as producer and project manager.

What the program is

Art Meets Tech looks at how technology changes art, and how art changes technology. The program is organised around four fields: visual arts, music, narratives and handicrafts. Sessions covered AI, web3 and blockchain, immersive technologies, generative art and creative coding, among others.

Some highlights from 2025

  • Film: AI and Documentary Filmmaking: Innovation and Ethical Challenges, on how AI is changing research, storytelling and image and sound generation.
  • Music and live visuals: a VJing and XR session with Lisbon collective VJs Anonymous, an AI tools guide for musicians and live coding of music with Alexandra Cárdenas.
  • Craft and design: weaving as a digital language with Amadine David, and a session on crafts and digital tools with Gareth Neal.
  • Society and ethics: workshops on AI and historical memory, the politics of online games and voice data.
  • Web3: funding and monetising art with Kaitlyn Davies, and a masterclass on art on-chain with Diana Kral.
