World Space Week New Mexico 2026: Production Support for a Global Space-Art Program

Not every project needs me at the front. Sometimes the best thing a producer can do is support the person leading it. This October, I had the chance to do that for Reimagine Space: New Mexico, a World Space Week program curated by STEMarts Lab, working with its CEO, Agnes Chavez.

What Reimagine Space was

For World Space Week (4–10 October 2026), STEMarts Lab brought together a statewide network of partner-led events across New Mexico, in partnership with the Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation. The program connected communities and students from New Mexico, Guadalajara in Mexico and Monrovia in Liberia, and it mixed art, science, technology and culture.

The calendar was wide: star parties and planetarium shows, museum tours and exhibitions, talks from the Leonardo LASER series, a night of art and astronomy in Santa Fe, an augmented reality AstroTour, and a youth coding workshop where students in Liberia and New Mexico created constellation art together. The week ended with a live global showcase broadcast, where space experts, international partners and young people presented their work. More than 20 partner organisations took part.

My part

I worked as production assistant to Agnes. In practice, I supported her with:

  • Partner outreach and integration: keeping in contact with organisations and helping them take part in a shared program, sharing updates, prgram and assets with them and keep the created database up to date.
  • Website organisation: helping structure the information, so visitors could find events across a long and varied calendar.
  • Brainstorming: thinking through ideas with her, from partner engagement to how the week could be presented.
